Accessment to the Period of Management in Combined Injuries of the Anterior Crucuate Ligament and Collateral Ligaments

Abstract
The treatment of combined injuries of the antheror cruciate(ALC) and medial medial collateral ligment (MCL) has been completely in the past 20 years because of enhenced understanding of the importance of the function of the ACL, improved
techniques for reconstruction of the ACL, increased knowledge of the importance of delaying an operation in the prevention of postoperative stiffness in the knee.
Authors suggest the following guidelines for the treatment of such injuries :
(1) The injury of the MCL should be treated nonsurgically, regardless of its severity.
(2) The restoration of a full rage of motion, which is difficult to achieve than the MCL has been forn
(3) The postoperative immobilization period should be brief usually 2 to 4 weeks for the patients with grade III injuries of the MCL when the ligament has been torn from the tibial attachment.
(4) The ACL should be reconstruced later, with use of an autogenous graft harvested from the central third of the patellar tendon, to prevent the postoperative stiffness in the knee.
